Katsuragi,29 years old,is an optimistic woman who doesn't seem to worry about anything at all.She is the close friend of Ritsuko and the ex-girlfriend of Kaji.Beneath that optimistic image lies a completely different woman who will do just about anything to destroy the Angels.Misato was the lone survivor of a group of expeditionists during the Second Impact in Antartica.Her father placed her in a capsule and she escaped that terrible disaster unharmed.After that horrible incident,Misato kept to herself and seldom talk to her friends.A great change in her occurred when she was in college.Since the time she met Kaji,her personality changed completely.As if making up for those years of suffering,she now chatters away and developed the optimistic behaviour of hers.Inside,she has sworn to avenge her father and plans to kill all Angels no matter the cost.She has the rank of Captain in Nerv and she is also the guardian of Asuka and Shinji.
Supreme Commander of NERV and father of Shinji,Gendou Ikari is a man of cold logic.Gendou abandoned Shinji when his wife,Yui,died.Since then,he has changed much.The man doesn't seem to care about anyone,the exception being Rei.For reasons known only to himself,he treats Rei with care and concern as if a father would a daughter but treated his son the reverse,bringing about Shinji's hate for him.Equally ruthless and heartless,he is hated by everyone but his superb leadership somehow offsets the balance.
Ryouji is a 31 year old womanizer whose present occupation and status are unknown to many.Kaji is Misato's ex-boyfriend and lived in Germany before he was transferred over to Tokyo with Asuka.He is a double-agent working for both Seele and NERV.
Close friend of Misato and Kaji,this beautiful 30 year old scientist has a relationship with Gendou.Her mother was a great scientist who created the MAGI system,adding different aspects of herself to the three Master Computers(Casper,Belthasar and Melchoir).When Ritsuko was in college,she often avoided boys and has been so ever since.Nothing much can be said about her except that she regards Rei with contempt.
Touji Suzuhara is Shinji's close friend and the fourth children.He was assigned to control Eva-03 but an Angel possessed the Evangelion.In the battle between Shinji and the Angel-possessed Eva-03, Touji lost his leg and also lost his chance to pilot an Evangelion forever.In the beginning of the story, Touji hated Shinji because it was his fault that Touji's sister got injured.After a few moments of reflection,Suzuhara realized that if not for Shinji,Tokyo-3 would not even survive until now.They became close friends when Touji apologized to the perplexed Shinji.
